Writing with Nature - Sarah Thomas

How might we write as part of nature, rather than simply about it?

Our ways of living and thinking impact directly and indirectly on a natural world now under immense strain. This creative writing course imagines writing as a potential act of repair, exploring how we might language a healthy relationship with the living world by de-centring the human narrator and co-creating with nature.

Much of this course will begin with embodied experience and take place outdoors (weather permitting). We shall engage with the various ecologies of The Rodd - the woodland, orchards, fields, rivers and historic buildings. Participants will be working on the beginnings of new pieces of writing but acquire techniques to apply to pre-existing work. The course’s focus is on perspective rather than the craft of writing itself.Price£250 – Course fee, food and accommodation. £170 – Course fee and food only.
