PROVISIONAL results show the county’s sixth form students again outperformed students nationally with over 99 per cent achieving A-levels and equivalent passes.

On initial analysis, the number of top grades has also surpassed the national performance with 11.4 per cent of students gaining the top grade of A* compared to 8.2 per cent nationally.

Councillor Jonathan Lester, Cabinet member for young people and children’s wellbeing, said: “I’m delighted with this year’s A-level results, which is an incredibly positive outcome for the county’s young people.

“My congratulations go to all of our students who have worked so hard to achieve such outstanding success and to the quality of teaching, which has helped contribute towards their achievements.

“I am very proud of the county’s results and wish all our young people the best of luck in their future endeavours, whether it’s university, apprenticeships or employment.”
