MEMBERS of the Hereford Times team were given a warm welcome at Leintwardine by local school pupils.

During an event organised by David Griffiths, who runs the village shop and garage, editor Clive Joyce and deputy editor Andrew Doyle met villagers and pupils from Leintwardine Primary School to hear about the key issues affecting their community.

Pupils quizzed the visitors for ideas on how they can address traffic concerns - particularly the number of HGV vehicles travelling through the village's narrow main street - as well as how they can highlight the lack of public transport links.

Other questions raised were a lack of amenities for young people, poor broadband provision, and lack of litter bins.

Pupils were also keen to hear how they can maximise coverage for the school, village and surrounding community in the Hereford Times.

Mr Joyce was impressed by the breadth of subject matter and by the way the young people expressed themselves.

"We're always delighted to report on the activities of schools and communities across Herefordshire and beyond, and all people have to do is send their pictures and stories to us.

"There are now so many ways of getting in touch with the Hereford Times, whether that’s via our website, social media, or email, and we can spread the message to a growing print and online audience.”

  •  The Hereford Times is grateful to Mr Griffiths for organising an extremely engaging and rewarding morning in Leintwardine.
