TYRE Safety Month comes to Hereford thanks to one county business which is supporting the tyre safety awareness campaign.

Hereford Tyres is backing the initiative , which runs throughout October, centres on the importance of motorists checking their tyres’ air pressure, condition and tread depth, ensuring they are practising SafeTyreChecks.

This year, the campaign asks drivers in Britain the tongue-in-cheek question: When did you last do it? Ideally, the response will be at least once a month and before long journeys.

The cheeky question is a reminder to motorists to check their tyres during Tyre Safety Month. If they can prove they’ve checked by posting a photo of where they last did it on TyreSafe’s Facebook channel, along with a caption, they’ll be in with a chance of winning a set of brand-new tyres worth up to £300. The prize will be awarded in each of the full four weeks of Tyre Safety Month this October1.

Tyre Safety Month is supported by the fire and police services, Highways England, road safety organisations, and car, van and tyre manufacturers and retailers.

To raise awareness in Hereford, TyreSafe member Hereford Tyres is offering free tyre checks; at its outlet in Vaughan Street, Hereford HR1 2HD.

"Tyre Safety Month is the focal point of the TyreSafe year, when we seek to raise awareness of the dangers of defective and illegal tyres," explained Stuart Jackson, TyreSafe Chairman. “It’s vital that drivers in every town ensure they check their tyres regularly to keep themselves, and other road users, safe. We’re grateful to our members and supporters who are doing tremendous work to promote this potentially life-saving message.”

“Hereford Tyres is committed to the well-being and safety of road users and through our support for Tyre Safety Month, we hope to help raise awareness of tyre safety,” said James Lauchlan, MD, Hereford Tyres. “We hope to see Hereford drivers taking advantage of our free tyre checks and will also provide free tyre safety information during October.

TyreSafe is the driving force behind the October campaign. A range of resources, including leaflets, posters and digital campaign materials are available.
