ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)(a) THE A49 TRUNK ROAD (KING’S THORN TO LOWER BULLINGHAM, HEREFORDSHIRE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that
Highways England Company Limited
(Company No. 9346363) intends to make an
Order on the A49 Trunk Road between King’s Thorn and Lower Bullingham in the District of
the County of Herefordshire to allow pavement
resurfacing, road markings, road studs and
gully grating relocation and renewal works to
be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to, at different
times, –
(1) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction
on the A49 from the centrepoint of its
junction with the A466 at King’s Thorn to its
roundabout junction with the B4399, known
as Grafton Roundabout near Grafton;
(2) close the A49 from its junction with the
A466 at King’s Thorn, to its junction with
Bullingham Lane near Lower Bullingham;
(3) close any layby adjacent to the length of
A49 described in (2) above; and
(4) prohibit vehicles from entering or leaving
the length of A49 described in (2) above, at
its junction with any side road.
The work is expected to start on Monday
9 April 2018 and continue for five weeks.
The closure of the A49 will be carried out over
night between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours.
The speed restriction and layby closures will
be in operation from 06:00 hours on Monday
9 April 2018 and continue for 24 hours per day
for the duration of the work. The Order will
come into force on 2 April 2018.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue
authority or ambulance purposes will be
exempt from the speed restrictions, closures
and prohibition. Vehicles being used for special
forces purposes will be exempt from the
speed restrictions and vehicles being used in
connection with the works will be exempt from
closures and prohibition. Access to properties
will be maintained at all times.
Diversion routes via the A417, the A438,
Leadon Way, the M50 at Junction 2, the
A449, the A40, and the A4103 will be signed.
Non-motorway traffic will divert via the A449
between the Traveller’s Rest Roundabout
(A449/M50) and the A417 at Ledbury.
