A FATHER and son have appeared in court today (April 30) after an alleged assault against a police officer in Hereford.

Richard Quinn, 47, and Alex Quinn, 18, of Bridge Street, Hereford, both pleaded guilty to one count of common assault by beating when they appeared before a judge at Worcester Crown Court.

But they both denied a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent, with Richard Quinn also denying a charge of intentional strangulation.

The incident was said to be in Union Street, Hereford, on March 30.

The alleged offences denied by the defendants were against a police officer, who was said by a West Mercia Police spokesperson at the time to be seriously injured and treated in hospital.

His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

They were released on bail and will appear in court again for trial on December 15, 2025.

The father and son previously appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court earlier this month, where the case was sent to crown court.
