ACTION has been called for to tackle speeders in a Herefordshire town... but police say it is not a problem.

Minutes from a recent meeting of Bromyard Town Council's traffic management committee said one local had called for flashing radar signs to be installed in Church Street to remind drivers to keep within the speed limit.

The local had previously contacted police about the issue, councillors were told, but after police paid a visit to the street to assess the problem, the local was sent a letter stating that police did not consider there to be a speeding problem in the area.

Another request was also heard from a business owner who wants traffic calming measures introduced in Rowberry Street.

"Members were not aware of speeding issues in Rowberry Street as this is the first time the council has been contacted about it," the minutes said.

It was resolved to recommend that the council asks Bromyard's Safer Neighbourhood Team to carry out on-site checks to see if there are speeding problems in Church Street and Rowberry Street.
