Wigan have signed goalkicking Parramatta hooker Mark Riddell on a three-year deal starting next season.
The 27-year-old, who will join the club in December, has played 169 games in Australia's NRL competition in his spells with the Eels and former club St George Illawarra, scoring 42 tries and 621 points.
Speaking from Sydney, where he is currently looking at potential new signings, Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said: "We are delighted to have signed Mark on a three-year deal."
He added: "He is exactly the type of hooker Wigan needs to lead our forwards and to further develop young Michael McIlorum.
"He adds strength and size, brings spark to our attack and is a hard-working defender who plays considerable game time. His kicking from hand and goalkicking skills are an additional benefit."
Confirmation of Riddell's arrival, which had been anticipated, will cast doubt over the future of Micky Higham at the JJB Stadium.
Former St Helens and Leigh hooker Higham is out of contract at the end of the season and the club already have cover in the position having recently tied youngster Michael McIlorum to a new deal.
Riddell has secured an early release from Parramatta to be able to switch to Super League with the Warriors.
Riddell said: "Wigan is the biggest name in world rugby and it is a wonderful opportunity for me. However, I am sad to be leaving the Eels after three massively enjoyable years and am grateful to the club for allowing me to go.
"I look forward to finishing my time with Parramatta for the rest of this season on a high."
