Celebrities and politicians are selling their Lego creations on eBay to mark the toy's 50th anniversary.

The nine sculptures, ranging from a miniature Schnauzer to a model of the Twin Towers, will raise funds for the National Autistic Society.

Pop act Right Said Fred made a guitar, while inventor Trevor Baylis recreated his workshop along with workbench, pillar drill and first aid box.

Singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald built a version of Nightmare on Elm Street character Freddy Krueger, a miniature Schnauzer and a car.

Fashion designer Sir Paul Smith made a rabbit and advertising guru Trevor Beattie built a model of the Twin Towers.

Liberal Democrat deputy leader Vince Cable and his team recreated the Bank of England.

All of the funds raised will help to upgrade a playground at the National Autistic Society's Radlett Lodge School in Hertfordshire.

Trevor Anderton, NAS director of fundraising, said: "Whilst autism is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition, the right support at the right time can make an enormous difference to people's lives.

"Funds raised from the auctions will go towards upgrading the playground at our Radlett Lodge School in Hertfordshire so we hope we get as many bids as possible."
