Westfields 3 Ellesmere Rangers 2.

SUBSTITUTE Richard Kear struck in the closing stages to ensure that Westfields began their Midland Alliance campaign with a victory.

Fields had made a fine start with two goals from Jamie Cuss putting them in control at the interval.

The striker headed in a Daryl Addis cross and then produced a clinical finish.

But the city side, who were missing defensive trio Phil Glover (injured), Scott Jackson and Joel Edwards (suspended), conceded a penalty after 58 minutes with Josh Brown getting up to score after being brought down by keeper Matt Gwynne.

And then, after Carl Morgan had missed a great chance to restore the two-goal advantage following a fine Aidan Thomas run, Bobby Aldrich deflected a cross into his own net to level the scores.

Boss Sean Edwards introduced Kear into the action and the marksman quickly struck, rounding the impressive visiting goalkeeper Dave Maguire to notch the winner.
