Westfields' Midland Alliance title hopes damaged by Rocester

Westfields 1 Rocester 4.

WESTFIELDS saw their Midland Alliance title hopes take a knock when they suffered a comperehensive home reverse by Rocester.

But the result was not quite the disaster it initially appeared with rivals Coventry Sphinx also being beaten, 2-1 at Highgate.

Westfields will be certainly keeping a close eye on proceedings this Saturday when Coventry take on Gresley, the only other side who could pip the city club to the title. Fields conceded inside four minutes when Joe Rogers headed past Matt Gwynne.

But the home side were level inside five minutes when Sam Gwynne scored from the penalty spot after a push on Daryl Addis.

Westfields struggled to gain any rhythm and fell behind at the start of the second-half when Chris Stirling beat the offside trap to fire home.

A superb free-kick from Darren Bullock extended the lead on 52 minutes and he rounded proceedings off with another fine 20-yarder.
