WESTFIELDS Reserves clinched the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division title last Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Kington Town.
Westfields fielded a strong side knowing that either a win or a draw would see them crowned champions and goals from Jimmy Moreton (2), Wes Owen (2), and Mark Davis saw them presented with the League winners’ trophy after the game.
Despite losing the last game of the season 3-2 at home to Kington Town - Sam Lloyd, Joe Mayglothing and Russell Jones for Kington, Andrew Verner and Luke Winter for the hosts - Holme Lacy finished the season with their highest points tally to date.
A superb hat-trick, a few days previously, from Craig Forsyth had steered Lacy to a 3-2 victory over Bartestree, the Bartestree goals coming from Jeremy Evans and Cory Hyde, and into a place outside the bottom two.
Elsewhere, Ewyas Harold were held to a 1-1 draw by Hay St Mary’s.
Harold went 1-0 up in the first half but conceded a late Colan Badham penalty to earn a share of the spoils.
The result means that with two games in hand Harold can still finish third while Hay sit comfortably in mid-table.
In Division One, the title will go to Mercia Athletic, whose superior goal difference should be enough to keep them top unless Eways Harold Reserves can pull off one of the greatest results of all time and win by a 38-goal margin in their final game.
If Ledbury Town Thirds manage to pick up four points from their final two games iin Division 2, against Holmer and Holme Lacy Reserves, then they will claim the championship crown ahead of current leaders Orleton Colts.
Sinkums have claimed the Division Three title, finishing nine points clear of their nearest challengers, Woofferton Colts, in second place.
Ace marksman Damian Gallimore struck four times as Sinkums rounded off their season in style.
Tony Preece hit a hat-trick as Sinkums thrashed Pencombe 8- 1 at Widemarsh Common in their final Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League match.
Gallimore bagged 50 goals for free-scoring Sinkums, who have marked their maiden season in Saturday league competition with two trophies.
