Fields in emphatic opening

3:00pm Friday 23rd July 2010

WESTFIELDS warmed up for the new campaign with an emphatic 6-2 win over Malvern Rangers at allpay.park.

A quick-fire hat-trick from marksman Daryl Addis and a Mark Hibbard penalty swept Westfields into a 4-0 interval advantage.

Westfields manager Sean Edwards made eight changes at the break and Malvern pulled back two goals.

Jamie Cuss scored twice after fine approach work by Sam Harrison and Jamie Addis to seal the Hereford club’s triumph.

Westfields also recorded a hard-fought 2-0 away win over a well-organised Hay St Mary’s.

Cuss put Westfields ahead before the break and teenager Will Tolley doubled their lead after good work by Mark Hibbard and trialist Troy Wood.

Meanwhile Westfields will host Swindon Supermarine in the Annual Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy match on July 31 at 3pm.
