Oadby Town 2 Westfields 5.
RICHARD Kear’s hat-trick swept in-form Westfields to a sixth successive win and into fourth place in the Aspire Midland Alliance.
Former Scotland and Leicester City star Matt Elliott, who manages Oadby, was impressed with the Hereford club’s superb display.
Oadby were reduced to 10 men on the stroke of half time after defender Scott Williams had palmed a goalbound effort over the bar.
The Leicester outfit started at a cracking pace and Westfields goalkeeper Jon Pugh pulled off an excellent save to deny Leon Cole.
Oadby also pierced the Westfields defence in the fifth minute but Cole ballooned his effort high over.
Westfields settled and took the lead in the 21st minute after Mark Davis ran on to a Daryl Addis pass and slid the ball into the net.
Kear had a shot brilliantly saved before Westfields struck a decisive double blow on the stroke of half time.
Williams was red-caded for handling Jamie Filkins’ 35-yard shot and Kear doubled Westfields’ advantage from the penalty spot.
Kear bagged his second goal soon after the interval when he raced clear of his marker and rounded the goalkeeper to slot home.
The Hereford club were dominant and Kear grabbed his hat-trick in the 65th minute after a fine run and cross from Daryl Addis.
Westfields’ made a double substitution and they were still finding their rhythm when Oadby scored twice in two minutes through Reuben Joseph-Walker and Cole.
However, Westfields finished strongly and completed the rout when Paul Casey and Roy Jordan combined for Filkins to fire home from 12 yards.
