Coleshill Town 2 Westfields 2

A 92ND-minute penalty deprived Westfields of all three points after they looked set for victory with a minute to play.

The city side looked set to maintain their second place in the Midland Football League Premier Division table when they led by two goals approaching the 89th minute.

But then Luke Edwards pounced to fire home when a throw in was not cleared.

And then, two minutes into injury time, Coleshill were awarded a penalty when skipper Phil Glover brought down Tom Wheale and Shane Benjamin secured an unlikely point for the home side.

Westfields had been in fine form in the first half as they built up what appeared to be a game-winning advantage.

Deqwon Banks and Nathaniel Lewars pulled the home defence apart in the early stages with Eubanks setting up Jamie Cuss to smash home a rising shot from 14 yards.

Full backs Sam Gwynne and Joel Edwards were also causing the Coleshill rearguard plenty of problems and it was Edwards who increased the lead on 30 minutes, stabbing from six yards.

There was almost a third goal in the lead-up to half-time but Christopher Jay in the home goal pulled off a fine save from Eubanks' fierce drive.

After the interval, the Coleshill attack, which had been little seen in the first half, started to threaten with Edwards making a fine goalline clearance and Matt Gwynne saving well from Benjamin.

However, the late rally came as disappointment for Fields, especially as their previous away match at Quorn had been decided by an 89th minute winner.
