WESTFIELDS picked up a couple of useful league points over an ardous Bank Holiday weekend with two away 1-1 Midland Alliance draws.

On Saturday at Coleshill, a late equaliser from Jamie Cuss enabled the city side to return with a point.

Carl Morgan had gone close for Westfields early in the first-half before Danny Tymon shook off Will Loughman’s challenge to open the scoring.

Alex O’Leary shot just wide from long range before the interval but Cuss eventually levelled the scores when he headed in a cross from Aidan Thomas at the far post.

There was still time, however, for centre-back Phil Glover to receive a second yellow card and for Cuss to shoot straight at the home keeper with a great opportunity to win the game.

There was something of a reversal of fortunes in the Bank Holiday Monday clash at Wulfrunians where it was the home side who bagged an equaliser eight minutes from time.

Dan Tipton made a brilliant save from Craig Jones but then it was a tale of missed chances for the city side with Cuss, Brad Birch and Josh Hunt all having opportunities to open the scoring but shooting wide.

Fields finally broke through with a 20-yard free-kick from Jones and more chances went begging before the Westfields defence failed to clear in the 82nd minute and Craig Greig was able to slam the ball past Jon Pugh.
