Westfields 5 Heather St Johns 0.

WESTFIELDS boss Sean Edwards is keen to keep his hands on the HFA County Challenge Cup.

The Midland Alliance club face Pegasus Juniors in their delayed semi-final at Old School Lane next Wednesday for a place against Ledbury Town in the Edgar Street final on April 17.

“We want to keep winning it,” said Edwards. “It is very important to us as it is to Pegasus - they will want to beat us, too.

“There are a few ex-Westfields players in the Pegasus side and a few ex-Pegasus players in the Westfields so it makes it a good atmosphere.”

Westfields have two league games to fit in - at Causeway United last night (Wednesday) and at home to Loughborough University on Saturday - before making the short trip across the city.

But Fields have received a boost with the return of Joel Edwards, who has been spending some time in Australia and is likely to come straight back into the side.

“Joel is a very fit lad and, although he’s not been playing in Australia, he’s been doing plaenty of training,” said the Westfields boss.

“And we’ve also signed Dan Harrison from Cinderford. He’s a centre-back and that’s an area where we needed some cover.”

Last weekend, Westfields scored five goals for the second successive home match to see off visiting Heather St Johns.

Fields were pretty much home and dry by the break after scoring three times in the first-half.

Craig Jones opened the scoring with a free-kick in the 33rd minute with Richard Kear heading in an Alex O’Leary cross five minutes later.

Aidan Thomas benefited from some good work by Carl Morgan to bag the third.

Dene Whittal-Williams prodded home a Phil Glover headed following another Jones free-kick with Josh Hunt rounding off the scoring after more good work by Morgan.
