Westfields 7 Kirby Muxloe 2.
WESTFIELDS went on a Midland Alliance goal blitz against their Leicestershire rivals, hammering in five in the opening half-hour at allpay.park.
But it was the visitors who had a chance to open the scoring when unmarked Aaron Preston fired over with only keeper Jamie Moore to beat.
After that, however, it was all Fields with Aidan Thomas scoring from a Carl Morgan cross in the seventh minute with Morgan setting up Richard Kear for a second shortly afterwards. Kear swiftly added his second and Westfields’ third with Thomas netting his second following an Alex O’Leary run on 24 minutes.
Skipper Scott Jackson headed in a Sam Gwynne cross on 30 minutes to round off a spectacular half-hour.
Preston pulled one back for the visitors before the break and Tom Hill bagged a second 10 minutes into the second period.
But Westfields were far from finished as Jackson hammered home his second of the afternoon before Kear rounded off a memorable afternoon by cracking home his hat-trick goal.
Pegasus Juniors 1 Wellington 1.
HONOURS ended even in the West Midlands League Premier Division Herefordshire derby with Pegasus Juniors battling back to claim a draw after the villagers had led at the interval.
Wellington were far from overawed against a side which had turned in a record goalscoring performance the previous week and were the better side during a first half in which they took the lead.
Mark Davies’ header from a Paul Allam free-kick went high over the bar and, from the goal-kick, a cross from Andrew Price was headed in by Aaron Thomas.
Cory Hyde came close to equalising with a shot which went just over and then saw another effort cleared off the line by Wellington skipper Steve Brotherwood.
Ben Fischer was denied a second Wellington goal by a fine save from Mikel Coribisier before Juniors drew level.
Chris Mortlock raced past two defenders before the ball was partially cleared to Tom Dawson who cracked a shot past Craig Hill from 18 yards.
Andy Mowen, Sam Hunt and Mortlock all went close to a winner in the closing stages as Juniors went after the three points.
