WESTFIELDS striker Daryl Addis has quit the club to rejoin Forest of Dean outfit Ellwood.

Addis weighed in with 30 league and cup goals for Westfields last season and he netted 35 the previous campaign.

He was pipped to the golden boot award last term by Richard Kear, who scored 32 goals.

“It’s really disappointing because Daryl has been a good asset to us,” said Westfields manager Sean Edwards.

“Daryl decided that he was going to leave and we have to thank him for his efforts and move on.”

Addis appeared 53 times for the Westfields last season and was on the bench three times.

Marksman Daryl is joining his four brothers at Ellwood - including Jamie Addis who made 28 appearances plus eight as a substitute for Westfields last term.

Ellwood’s playermanager is Chris Addis, while brothers Julian and Matt are already at the club.

For the first time, five brothers from the Addis family will play for the Gloucestershire County League club on a regular basis.

“Daryl is a very experienced player now and will be a great asset at our level,”

said brother Chris. “If he gets 15-20 goals, I’ll be happy.”

Westfields 3 Tipton Town 1

WESTFIELDS took just 12 seconds to get off the mark as they moved three points clear at the head of the Midland Alliance.

Richard Kear fired home to give Fields the lead after Aaron Hopkinson and Jamie Cuss had opened up the visitors' defence.

But Tipton were back on level terms with only three minutes played when Rory McFarlane outjumped the Westfields defence to head home.

Phil Glover headed against an upright as the sides finished the half all-square but had better fortune early in the second period when he capped an outstanding performance by heading Fields into the lead.

A Cuss chip from fully 35 yards bounced on top of the bar as the home side looked to extend their lead.

And the third goal duly arrived 18 minutes from time when Craig Jones raced on to a Kear through-ball to beat the Tipton keeper with a low drive from the edge of the penalty area.
