WESTFIELDS’ new signing Bobby Aldrich has recorded the fastest speed in the Hereford United speed cage challenge.

The former Pegasus Juniors captain tops the seniors’ chart after registering 70.2 mph at Leominster.

A total of 824 people have so far taken part in the challenge which has been to Ludlow, Leominster, Ledbury, Hinton and Hereford United’s open day.

The Edgar Street outfit are travelling throughout Herefordshire with their inflatable Cargill speed cage.

Ryan Norgrove, with 60.4 mph at United’s open day, heads the 14-15 years age section.

Billy Beaumont, with 55.5 mph at United’s open day, leads the 12-13 years age section, while Callum Williams’ 50.8 mph at Ledbury tops the 8-10 years age category.

Nathan Chapman, who shot 39.4 mph at Hinton’s six-a-side, is the leading performer in the 5-7 years category.

A free adult season ticket and opportunities for children to become matchday mascots at United’s home matches are up for grabs.

There are prizes for various age groups and the winners will be announced at half-time in Hereford’s first home League 2 match against Gillingham on August 14.

● The speed cage will be at Ross Carnival on August 7 from 10am; Hereford High Town on Saturday, August 14 from 9am to noon and at Edgar Street from 1pm to 2.30pm.
