WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards is targeting a top-four finish in the Aspire Midland Alliance.
Edwards is in his third spell in charge of the Hereford club following John Layton’s departure on the eve of the new campaign.
Westfields finished a disappointing 17th in the league last season.
“This is my third spell as manager,” said Edwards.
“I can’t escape it – I enjoy the camaraderie, the players and the challenge to build another new team. We have a lot of new young faces and they have done really well apart from the FA Cup defeat against Sutton Coldfield.
“If we stick together as a unit, then a top-four finish in the league is what we want. We have got the players to do it and we have experienced players to come in. We have a good mixture of youth and experience at the club.”
Edwards praised the new coaching team at Westfields.
“Joe Rawle is absolutely fantastic. We have an excellent team. We also have Darren Lynch, Jimmy Clyde and Brian Jones, with help from Nathan Rivers. We have also got a good reserve team set-up. We have got a nucleus of about 30 to 40 players and they all want to play for the club.”
Edwards added: “We have had a good start and lost just twice in 15 games. Nobody gave us a chance of winning at Newcastle Town or at Causeway. We won both matches and we played Causeway off the park.”
