CRAIG Jones has given Westfields manager Sean Edwards his word that he will stay at allpay.park – but will talk to Hereford FC if he was approached.

Jones, who played for Hereford during two spells between 2007 and 2013, says he is fully committed to Westfields and would love to win the Midland Football League Premier Division with them.

Hereford were placed in the step five division by the Football Association last Thursday and could face Westfields on August Bank Holiday Monday and Boxing Day.

"I didn't have the best of seasons last season, but I would love to win it with Westfields," said Jones.

"We are yet to do it, so it would be a nice thing to achieve.

"It would be nice to have interest from other teams and I would speak to Pete Beadle because he's a nice bloke, but I have given Sean (Edwards) my word, as have a number of other players, that we want to put right what was wrong last season."

Jones added that Hereford's place in the league has been a big topic of conversation among the Westfields players.

"It is going to be a big challenge for us, but it is a big motivation to make sure that we beat them," he said.

"It is definitely two games to look forward to."

Jones says that Hereford supporters should not expect their team to walk away with the league, adding that they will be in for a shock once it commences on August 8.

"I think the fans need to calm down and realise that this league is a lot harden than people give it credit for," said Jones.

However, Jones did say that money undoubtedly does play a factor in enticing some players to play in the league.

"In football, money does talk and attracts players that other teams can't get, so it will be an advantage to Hereford.

"But I hope they don't throw money at people because that's what cost them in the past."

Midland Football League secretary Nigel Wood says next season's league structure in the Premier Division should hopefully be finalised by the end of this week.

Hereford have effectively taken Basford's place, with Basford being promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One South.

Sporting Khalsa come up from West Midlands League (Regional League) Premier Division, with Tipton Town and Heath Hayes the two teams relegated.

Loughborough University have been handed a reprieve due to Causeway United folding.

The last place is set to be handed to either Bardon Hill, the East Midlands Counties League Premier Division champions, or Derbyshire outfit Heanor Town, who want to be transferred from the North East Counties League.

However, there is a possibility that both teams enter the league with a current side moved to another step five division.

Bulls fans may also a see familiar face when the Bulls face Dunkirk.

Former Hereford United striker Danny Carey-Bertram turned out for the Nottinghamshire outfit last season.

And as well as Westfields, close trips to Stourport Swifts and Alvechurch await.

"Having Hereford in the league will undoubtedly give us more of a presence and exposure," said Mr Wood.

"There are no full-time employees on our committee and I understand there will an high expectation from their supporters because a lot of clubs only have 'followers'.

"It will be a bit of a culture shock for them because they are used to a certain level."

Mr Wood added that he will speak to Westfields on Saturday regarding the two sides' fixtures, but understands that the police are aware of a potential large crowd at allpay.park.

The fixtures are set to come out in mid-July.
