WESTFIELDS eased into the next round of the HFA County Challenge Cup following a 2-0 win against Kington Town on Tuesday night.

Joel Edwards opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after being set-up by Carl Morgan before a Kington defender put the ball in his own net shortly before half-time following a Nathaniel Lewars free-kick,

Former Hereford United striker Lewars has impressed for Westfields, while the game also saw ex-Bull Marcus Palmer came off the bench.

Palmer, who has joined Westfields from Evesham, played four league games for Hereford between 2006 and 2008.

He also scored an extra-time hat-trick against Sean Edwards' men in the HFA Senior Floodlit Cup final in 2007.

Kington worked hard throughout the game, but their hopes of getting something from it were rocked when striker Daniel Stack was sent-off in the second-half for upending Morgan.

Westfields had chances to increase their lead, most notably in the last minute after Kington goalkeeper Zeke Vivian upended Edwards in the penalty box.

But Edwards smashed the resulting spot-kick over the bar.
