ANTHONY Rivett wants to stay in the Westfields Reserves’ hot-seat for a fourth season after completing a double cup success.

“Hopefully I’ll still be here next year but I haven’t quite made my mind up yet,” said Rivett.

“I think the club would like me to stay and we should be challenging for more honours next season.”

Westfields Reserves picked up the Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl after beating Hinton 4-0 in the final.

They repeated their success against the Broomy Hill in the HFL Journal Trophy final last Tuesday when Mark Davis, Ben Thomas, Tom Bendall and Wesley Owen fired them to a 4-1 success.

“We have under-achieved this term,” said Rivett.

“We were inconsistent in the first half of the season and didn’t gel but the last month we have been a different team,” he added.

“If we had the same team week-in week-out as we’ve had for the last few weeks, we would have been fighting for title.”

With a number of youngsters coming through at Fields, the manager spoke highly of his defence, in particular centre-back Thomas.

“Ben is superb. He’s good in the air, on the deck, and he reads the game well. He will be one to watch in a few years and he can play anywhere,” said Rivett. “He has been superb all season and could go a long way.”

n ELLIS Davey is better known as Edgar The Bull but he’s now written his name into Westfields Reserves’ cup history.

Ellis hadn’t scored for three years until he netted in Westfields’ 4-0 win over Hinton in the HFA Charity Bowl final. “I occasionally still go and be the mascot at Hereford United,” said Ellis, who does work for the club’s community trust.

“I’ve been playing for Westfields Reserves since I was 16 and I hadn’t scored for three years.

“I put us 2-0 up in the cup final and, although my shirt stayed on, I did an Alan Shearer goal celebration.”

Ellis added: “The Charity Bowl success was my first trophy with the club.”
