Hereford United out of Johnstone's Paint Trophy

Hereford United 1

MK Dons 4

HEREFORD United exited from the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy when defensive frailties handed victory to League 1 opponents Milton Keynes Dons in their Southern Area semi-final at Edgar Street on Tuesday night.

Hereford fought back after conceding an early goal to Sam Baldock with Leon Constantine’s equaliser in the 63rd minute.

The stretching Constantine just failed to direct Jonny Godsmark’s cross into the gaping goal shortly afterwards and Hereford were swiftly made to pay.

A blunder by Kenny Lunt handed a goal to Jason Puncheon and Keith Lowe’s mis-placed header gifted the third to Aaron Wilbraham before Jermaine Easter wrapped up the tie eight minutes from the end.

Hereford will be looking to bring their run of three defeats to an end and bring their fans some pre-Christmas cheer when they entertain Lincoln City in a League 2 clash at Edgar Street on Friday night.

Boss John Trewick will be hoping that at least a couple of his absent defensive quartet of Ryan Green, Danny Blanchett, Ryan Valentine and Richard Rose will have recovered from injury or illness.
