HIGHLY-rated Hereford United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga is on the verge of signing for Championship club Peterborough United.
The Bulls have agreed a fee with Posh and the deal is expected to go through in the next couple of days.
“The fee was acceptable and we have to weigh up the player or the opportunity to get money in to do something else with,” said manager John Trewick.
“Toumani has done a good job for us but even if we had turned the offer down, he would not have been thrilled to have been denied the chance to play Championship football. We would not have wanted an unhappy player.”
Trewick’s recruitment drive is, meanwhile, gathering progress.
“I hope to have three, perhaps four, deals done by the beginning of next week,” he said. “That will be the last defender in the equation, a goalkeeper and two midfielders.”
United have been drawn at home to League 1 side Charlton Athletic in the Carling Cup. That match will take place in the week following United’s first League 2 fixture which sees them make the long trip to Morecambe.
The Bulls travel to Torquay on Boxing Day and, on one of the worst travelling days of the year, when a local derby would have been beneficial, go to Darlington on Easter Monday.
