HEREFORD United have added striker Nick Chadwick to their squad ahead of Saturday’s League 1 visit to Southend United.

Twenty-six-year-old Chadwick, who began his career at Everton where he had Premiership experience, was released by Champion-ship club Plymouth Argyle at the end of last season.

Chadwick, who will be with the club until January, is the second free agent to sign on at Edgar Street following the closure of the transfer window.

Former Luton Town full-back Richard Jackson joined the club last week and made his debut in the home draw with Swindon Town last Friday evening.

Chadwick was due to have an outing yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) when the Bulls were taking on Shrewsbury in a friendly match.

Karl Broadhurst, who has been out of action with a dislocated shoulder, was also due to play and may be considered for the Southend visit if he comes through satisfactorily.

Hereford do, however, have a couple of doubts for Saturday with on-loan Andy Williams struggling with an ankle injury and Kris Taylor suffering from a minor hamstring strain.

With the emergency transfer window now open, clubs can reinforce their squads but further arrivals are unlikely at Edgar Street in the near future.

“If I had the chance, I would like to bring in another defender but that it not likely to happen yet,” said Turner.

l United have been drawn at home to Swindon Town in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday, October 7.

l Former Bull Paul Parry has retired from international football after being omitted from the Wales side which entertained Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
