HEREFORD United’s search for a new striker goes on after manager Graham Turner failed in his bid to land a transfer target.
The Edgar Street club had tabled an offer for an unnamed player but that has fallen through after several weeks of waiting.
The setback follows the Bulls’ unsuccessful attempt to lure Gary Hooper away from Southend United after being priced out of the market by a flurry of late bids.
Hooper, who spent a spell on loan at United last season during their promotion campaign, finally moved to Scunthorpe for an initial fee of £125,000.
Hereford currently have three strikers on their books in Steve Guinan, Simon Johnson and summer signing Bradley Hudson-Odoi.
The club have two more friendlies before the start of the League One campaign in two weeks.
Championship outfit Southampton visit on Tuesday with Premiership new boys West Brom arriving three days later.
