GOALKEEPER Adam Bartlett, new loan striker Lyle Taylor and midfielder Will Evans were pleased with Hereford United's display in the battling 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town yesterday (Saturday).
Bartlett said: “We started to get the ball down and play. The game-plan worked and we won successive corners in the first half. I didn’t have to make a save in the first half. But, in the second half, we came under a lot of pressure. After conceding the goal, it was always going to be hard defending up the bank. We just struggled a bit in the second half.
“There were some balls into the box that I dealt with but I didn’t have a save to make."
"They had one cleared off the line after I punched a corner. But their only shot on target throughout the whole game was the goal. It was disappointing because we soaked up a lot of pressure and handled it very well.”
Taylor said: “When you’re playing a team at the top of the league, you’re always going to come under pressure. For the first 20-25 minutes it was all us. They could not get out of their half. It was a positive result for the manager and everyone to look at. In the second half, we were a bit backs-to-the-wall but we dug in and got a draw. It was a good point.”
Evans said: “It was a tough game – Cheltenham are a good team and it was a good result for us. In the first half, we dominated possession and I thought we should have got the win.”
