Pilkington takes the place of Sharp on 79 minutes but Wrexham are still having the better of the attacking.
Neil Ashton comes forward for Wrexham and comes close to joining his full-back partner on the scoresheet with a shot which flies just over the bar.
Cory Williams comes on as Hereford try to get something back.
Wrexham get their second on 64 minutes.
Keates gets in a cross to the far post and Carrington arrives unmarked to score at the far post.
James concedes a free-kick 25 yards out and McDonald heads a Harris cross clear.
The ball reaches Walker and he runs into the area but shoots weakly at Coughlin.
Wrexham win a corner on 57 minutes when McDonald turns a Keates cross behind.
But Wrexham are soon back on the attack and a shot from Harris beats Lloyd-Weston but hits the bar before going behind.
Hereford win a corner on 51 minutes. Edge sends in the cross but McDonald heads wide.
Lloyd-Weston fields a shot from Clarke as Wrexham make the better start to the second half.
And Hereford have another narrow escape in the 43rd minute when veteran Brett Ormerod side-foots wide when it seems easier to score.
But Wrexham stage a counter and full-back Carrington is only inches from getting a second on 38 minutes.
Hereford win a corner in a good spell and Sharp’s header deflects out for another corner.
The second flag-kick sees Smith get in a shot as Coughlin drops the ball and it’s another corner.
Hereford’s attack comes to life and a low shot from Walker brings a good save from Coughlin on 27 minutes.
The corner is knocked away and, after a brief spell of momentum, the ball runs away.
The game enters a quiet phase with little attacking action at either end.
But on 24 minutes a run by full-back Mark Carrington takes him into the area to pull back for Harris who shoots wide.
But it’s Wrexham who are having the better of the attacking and Hunt races on to a pass from Keates before drilling a shot across goal and wide.
Hereford break out and, despite some poor control from Walker, win a corner.
Hereford have another let-off a couple of minutes later when a header from Ogleby clips the top of the bar on its way over.
On four minutes, a swift break out sees Ogleby surge into the area and force a fine save from Dan Lloyd-Weston.
From the corner, a header from Livesey flashes across the goal and wide.
Hereford make a disastrous start by conceding an own goal in the first minute.
Ogleby’s cross is deflected into his own net by skipper Luke Graham with just 50 seconds played.
WITH off-the-field news dominating once again, Martin Foyle’s Bulls face another crucial battle in their bid to face the drop.
