In stoppage time, Artus sees a free-kick deflected out for a corner. Evans joins the attack but Walker’s cross is too deep.
Brown misses a glorious chance three minutes from the end when he meets Walker’s cross at the far post but heads badly wide.
Hereford have a chance on 78 minutes when Smith heads goalward but the ball deflects for a corner.
From Walker’s flag-kick, Collins meets the ball and heads into the corner of the net.
Hereford force a corner or 67 minutes. Bush gets a head on Walker’s cross but the ball flies a long way wide.
But then the visiting defence gets in a tangle and leaves Walker with a shot at an open goal.
But Andrew gets back quickly to block.
As the attack continues, Smith glances a header wide from a good position.
Macclesfield continue to pile forward and Winn slices a shot wide after a rapid build-up.
Foyle makes two substitutions, replacing MacDonald with Bush and, less explicably, Purdie with James when Brown is clearly having a poor game.
Macclesfield force an early corner in the second half. Mackreth’s cross is partly cleared but Danny Andrew’s cross is headed into his own net by Leadbitter.
News emerging at half-time is that Rankine was injured in the warm-up and Sharp replaces him. Jarrod Bowen is named on the bench instead of Sharp.
Two minutes before the break, Hereford look luck to survive a handball by Graham in the area but concede a corner.
Winn’s corner is headed by Pilkington with Evans having to turn the ball over.
From the next cross, Pilkington’s header from five yards is cleared off the line by Purdie, with Pilkington blasting the rebound over the bar.
Macclesfield appeal for a penalty but it’s not given.
Whittaker collects a caution for a foul on Leadbitter and then sees a deflected shot dribble into the arms of Evans.
Macclesfield retain the initiative and force another corner which is eventually cleared.
ON 28 minutes, there’s another corner to Town.
Winn delivers the cross to the far post and it’s headed in by Pilkington.
Hereford stage a fine counter-attack with Walker driving in an excellent low cross. But Sharp is just too late in arriving and can’t reach the ball.
It’s 100mph stuff with precious little quality.
Almost immediately, there’s a Macclesfield corner which McDonald, who has just been booked, heads clear.
There’s a scrappy phase before a Brown shot deflects behind for a corner.
The Artus cross is poor and easily cleared.
Shortly afterwards, there’s a corner as a free-kick deflects off the wall.
Mackreth swings in the corner but the ball is cleared.
Town gain a free-kick 25 yards out on five minutes. Danny Andrew’s shot hits the wall.
Although the team sheet is unchanged, Sharp is starting instead of Rankine.
HEREFORD boss Martin Foyle announces an unchanged team for the visit of old rivals Macclesfield.
Kingsley James, however, returns on the bench where Daniel Lloyd-Weston makes way.
