With a minute to play, Leadbitter wins a corner on the right.
West’s cross reaches McDonald whose fierce drive comes back off the bar with Graham putting the rebound wide.
West wins a corner on 84 minutes after a good spell of play and Brown immediately wins a further flag-kick on the other side.
But after some interplay the ball ends in Evtimov’s hands.
Martin Foyle makes a double substitution – Brown for Purdie and West for Walker – on 74 minutes.
But Town are back in front eight minutes later from almost their first raid of the half.
Green is caught for pace in midfield and a sprint down the right ends with a cross which is side-footed in by Moult at the near post.
It’s James who is instrumental in the equaliser on 53 minutes, sending in a perfect cross for Rod McDonald to race in and head home.
And the substitute does well to win a corner on 50 minutes.
The ball is cleared, however, and Nuneaton break out quickly with York ending the move with a shot high over.
Kingsley James replaces Artus at half-time.
Hereford continue with a good spell of pressure and press forward into the Town area. But they are unable to carve out a chance and the ball eventually goes behind from a Brodie cross.
In a rare Hereford raid, Brodie does well down the left and gets in a cross which is cleared at the back post by the Town defence.
Nuneaton are back on the attack and Louis Moult strikes a free-kick wide from 20 yards at the second attempt.
Artus almost equalises straight away with a swerving drive which Evtimov can only push away. By contrast, there is no Hereford player following up to pick up the rebound.
Nuneaton take the lead on 23 minutes.
York speeds through the middle and powers in a shot; Evans drops the shot and York follows through to slide home.
With Nuneaton making most of the running, York powers an angled shot just over on 18 minutes.
Artus make a good run down the left for Hereford and forces a low save from Evtimov.
Nuneaton strike back almost immediately and Rhys Evans has to jump to tip over an Andrew Brown header from Wesley York’s cross.
Evans then flies through the air to claw away a 25-yarder from Armson brilliantly for a corner.
Dan Walker, meanwhile, after a period of pressure, forces a corner at the other end. Artus swings the corner into the middle but Hereford concede a free-kick for a foul on Evtimov.
Nuneaton force a corner on four minutes. James Armson’s cross picks out Louis Moult but he fails to get a full contact on the ball which skids across goal and wide.
HEREFORD boss Martin Foyle decides on two changes for the visit to unbeaten Nuneaton.
Frankie Artus is recalled to a three-man midfield with Michael West dropping to the bench while Danny Leadbitter resumes at right-back in place of Dom Collins.
In goal for Town is Dimitar Evtimov, resuming his position after being away on international duty with Bulgaria.
