A minute from the end, Alfreton take the lead. The struggling Leadbitter is forced to concede a throw and the ball goes into the area for Josh Law to bag what looks like the winner.
With Leadbitter receiving treatment, Alfreton force a corner on 82 minutes but the Bulls clear for a throw-in.
Hereford respond with some of their best play of the match and Frankie Artus tests Atkins with a powerful drive on 77 minutes.
Jake Harris joins Gwynne on the field on 74 minutes with West and Sharp the players to give way.
Dan Walker goes close on 71 minutes when he meets a cross from the recently arrived Sam Gwynne but blasts over.
Evans has to be alert on 67 minutes when the ball comes off Leadbitter and the keeper makes a quick grab for the ball.
Akinde then tries his luck with an effort which flies wide.
Despite making a better start to the second half, Hereford have let-off when Wishart lets fly with a shot which comes back off the foot of a post.
Hereford make a better start to the second period and West fires in a shot which is tipped away by Ross Atkins in the home goal.
The Bulls are level in first-half stoppage time against the run of play.
Bush launches a long throw into the Alfreton area and Chris Sharp bundles the ball home at the far post.
Alfreton win another corner on 41 minutes but Chris Bush clears the ball to safety.
It’s Alfreton who continue to have the better of the action and Akinde is only just wide of the target from a Dan Wishart cross on 39 minutes.
Purdie is slow to clear shortly afterwards and it brings an escape for the Bulls with Akinde stealing the ball and rattling the bar.
Hereford win their first corner on 32 minutes thanks to Dan Walker.
Frankie Artus swings the cross to the far post where it’s cleared by Bradley Wood.
With Josh O’Keefe struggling with a head injury, Rob Purdie makes an early arrival into the action as a 27th minute substitute.
But, moments later, Josh Law has a great chance to extend the lead but blazes past the woodwork.
Alfreton force a second corner after 25 minutes when Luke Graham’s header goes behind.
West clears to safety.
Then, Bradley, who is often in the actionin the initial stages, sends a shot just over.
Alfreton keep up the offensive and Dan Bradley goes close to a second with a long-range drive.
But the opening goal arrives after 11 minutes.

Alfreton get in the first serious effort on goal with Dan Wishart heading over.
Alfreton win the first corner on eight minutes and the return cross from John McGrath, after Sam Smith’s clearance, clips the top of the bar on its way out.
It’s a quiet start with neither goalkeeper in action in the early stages.
HEREFORD are forced into three changes for their trip to Derbyshire to take on Alfreton.
Michael Rankine and Danny Pilkington are ruled out by injury while Rod McDonald is ill.
This means a first start of the season for Chris Sharp in attack and Dom Collins in defence while winger Michael West, who has signed on loan from Crewe, also gets a first start.
Jake Harris, who has been recalled from his loan at Paulton Rovers due to the injury situation, is named among the substitutes.
