TWO second-half goals from Chris Sharp fired the Bulls to a welcome home success.
An own goal from James Musa and a penalty from Alan Power had given the Imps a half-time lead despite Stefan Stam’s bullet header.
But United fought back to win for the first time in the Blue Square Bet Premier at Edgar Street on a Saturday since they beat next Saturday’s opponents Cambridge United on September 22.
Bulls chief Martin Foyle made one change for the visit of Lincoln City with James Bittner returning in place of Dan Hanford in goal.
In line with his recent preference, the Hereford manager did not include a replacement goalkeeper on the substitutes’ bench.
Hereford made a lively start with Ryan Bowman finding some space on the left and delivering a dangerous cross which the Lincoln defence cleared.
The Imps forced the first corner of the game and Bittner made a routine catch from Alan Power’s cross.
The action continued to switch from end to end and David Preece had to dive low to scoop up an Andy Gallinagh cross.
The Imps took the lead in comical circumstances on eight minutes.
Bittner was coming out to gather a harmless cross when Musa suddenly nipped in to try to clear and headed into his own net.
A neat pass from Chris Sharp sent Musa into the area at the other end and brought the Bulls’ first corner.
Stam leapt highest at the far post and thumped home a header from Marley Watkins cross.
With Hereford starting to play some football, Bowman’s cross was put behind by Tom Miller for a corner.
The flag-kick from Clucas drifted beyond the far post and went out of play.
On 20 minutes, Bittner produced a superb save, flying through the air to touch away a glancing header from Vadaine Oliver for a corner.
But, with play quickly switching, a dangerous run saw Bowman surge into the Lincoln area although he was not able to keep the ball in play with the cross.
Conner Robinson tried his luck for the Imps on 27 minutes, drilling a shot from 20 yards inches wide of the target.
Preece had to make a save for the visitors within seconds, diving to grass a flicked header by Clucas from Gallinagh’s cross.
On 36 minutes, Stam got in a good tackle to prevent Jake Jones from getting in a cross at the expense of a corner.
But, a minute later, Power went down under a challenge from Kingsley James and a penalty was awarded.
Power smashed home the spot-kick, sending Bittner the wrong way.
With Lincoln gaining confidence from a second gift goal, Jones rifled a shot just wide from 20 yards.
Early in the second period, United gained a free-kick 20 yards out but their set-piece move comes to nothing.
Craig Hobson, a replacement for the injured Oliver, fired a well-struck 25-yarder just past Bittner’s goal in the 56th minute.
But the Bulls were back on level terms a minute later.
Clucas showed good awareness to nip in with a headed interception, nodding the ball down to Sharp who drilled a low shot into the corner of the net from 20 yards.
Four minutes later, Sharp bagged his second, firing in from close range after Preece could only parry away a Stam shot.
A flurry of yellow cards interrupted the flow of play with one going to Lincoln’s Jones, who was lucky not to concede a penalty.
He brought down Watkins in the area but referee Paul Rees judged the foul to have been committed a yard outside.
Hereford, however, were within an inch of gaining a fourth when Andrew Boyce guided a Clucas free-kick behind off a post.
Lincoln’s Peter Gilbert was shown a straight red card a minute from the end after an altercation with Sharp by the near touch-line.
