HEREFORD boss Jon Taylor said that a more experienced player should have "man enough" to take the last-minute penalty.

Taylor was furious with the indecisiveness of the players which led to Javia Roberts taking the spot-kick.

"We have practised a lot of penalties and Gary O'Neill is our best taker," said Taylor.

"I shouted at him two or three times to take it, but he wasn't feeling confident, so Javia took it.

"We needed someone to be a leader and pick up the ball, rather than Javia,

"It was our get out of jail card because we were on the back foot.

"I've got no complaints with Javia though because he was man enough to take it."

Taylor acknowledged that Hereford have a proud history in the FA Cup and a run in it would benefited the club both on and off the pitch.

"The club have got a massive cup tradition," said Taylor.

"We are never going to win it, but it can give you a little bit of prestige and the money can be great thing too.

"But people didn't seem motivated.

"It is about the players' desire and if the desire to win games is not there, then you will lose."

Taylor added that the length of the grass did not help his side's passing, but said that was no excuse for the defeat.

"We played well in the first half and should have been 5-0 up," said Taylor,

"It was like a pre-season game and the grass was too long, but it was the same for both teams.

"But in the second half we were poor and they came back at us.

"I was very disappointed with how we leaked the goals."
