HEREFORD United manager Pete Beadle admitted last night’s 1-0 defeat at Tamworth was a ‘crushing blow’ to his side’s Skrill Premier survival hopes.

A second-half strike by Tamworth’s Lloyd Kerry left United in the relegation zone with just two matches remaining.

After the match, Beadle said: “We haven’t won again and it’s a crushing blow. It’s a quiet and desolate changing room at the moment and it’s up to us to pick them up and get them right for Monday.”

He added: “I feel angry and frustrated. Once we got to the grips with the game I thought we did really well. The result is the real killer and the last goal-mouth scramble shows where we have been lacking for a long time now.

“After the goal, I was really disappointed with the body language of the players for five or 10 minutes and then we were weren’t patient in our build up.

“We still had chances. But, again, we failed to put the ball in the back of the net.

“In my very short time of doing the first team, that’s been our biggest problem.

"Aldershot have got a 20-goal striker at the moment and we haven’t got that.

“Goals win games and we have not scored enough goals all season.”

Beadle was delighted the masses who travelled to Tamworth to cheer on United.

“Until the goal went in, I was still very confident and I am disappointed for the fans because they came in massive numbers and were phenomenal,” he said.

“They don’t deserve to go away from here with that result. We didn’t play that badly. It just comes down to a fine line and somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net.”
