SUPPORTERS will be highlighting Hereford United’s plight when they walk through High Town before tomorrow’s match at Edgar Street.

Will Cheshire and fans will be collecting donations and handing out leaflets as they head to United’s match against Grimsby Town.

“We are trying to raise the issue locally and get people to focus on what is happening at the football club,” said Cheshire.

Cash-strapped United are facing a winding-up order on Monday, April 7 over a £78,000 payment owed to Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Cheshire said: “What has happened at the club has happened and this is not about negativity.

"We now need to be positive and ask for the help and support of other people from Herefordshire, who may not be football fans."

The Victory Inn is giving a free pre-match pint to Cheshire and other fans who wear a Hereford United shirt.

“The Victory has offered to donate two free barrels of beer each week to the club and we thought we would try to support Jim Kenyon and his pub before heading to the match,” added Cheshire.

A Herefordshire police spokesman said he was aware of tomorrow’s fund-raising walk.
