MANAGER Pete Beadle wants Hereford United’s players to ‘show imagination’ on the pitch.

Beadle says he needs to get ‘more bodies into the box’ for Saturday’s home clash with Grimsby.

He was pleased with United’s desire and commitment in last weekend’s defeat at Barnet.

“I want the players to show some imagination and I am keen for people to run at the opposition,” said Beadle, who is being assisted by Steve Jenkins.

“I also want us to defend properly and make the right decisions.

“The aim is simple - to score more goals than the opposition. We want to get the ball from back to front as quickly as we can and we have to get the ball and more bodies into the box.

“At Barnet, we had 59% possession and won eight corners compared to Barnet’s one.

“I thought we lacked a bit of quality at times. But we have to work at it and I felt the players grew more as the game wore on.”

United are just four points above the Skrill Premier drop-zone.

Beadle was appointed caretaker manager on Thursday, following the departure of Martin Foyle and assistant Andy Porter 24 hours earlier.

“It was a tough one for me because it was the gaffer (Martin Foyle) who brought me to the club to work with the youth players,” said Beadle, who is United’s under-18 coach.

“I have spoken to Martin since he’s left. He and Andy Porter texted Steve and I before the Barnet match to wish us all the best.”

Beadle believes the Bulls will be ready for Grimsby’s challenge.

“I don’t like to talk too much about the opposition,” he said. “We will do our homework but I will concentrate on our business and my focus will be on the things we need to do.

“I have two football teams at the moment and I want people to speak highly of them.”
