After two miserable weeks on the pitch, this week was always going to be HUGE!

Four points from three tough games ended up a good return yet it should have been more. We have worked tirelessly on being hard to break down and getting back to how we were earlier in the season.

James Bittner has returned to the fold and has shown his experience in goal. He will get better after missing the preseason programme.

Although Dan Hanford has been great for us; a spell on the side lines won’t do him any harm. We had a great chat the other day and he knows he has a bright future ahead of him.

The front four of Clucas, Jackson, Bowman and Watkins have been revelations this season for us.

When they are on song, they are a nightmare for defenders as Cambridge found on Saturday. They are only going to get better and I’m enjoying playing with them.

We have restricted teams to a few shots on target in the last three games and I’m confident the goals against column will start to improve.

It is important we all defend well as you can get punished.

Two different midfielders have lost their man in the box against Forest Green and Mansfield, its cost us four points.

There’s no blame culture here, it’s just facts.

I’ve held my hands up for goals and it’s vital that everyone takes responsibility.

A lot has been said about the finances at the club this week. We have had players leave recently and the latest casualty is Byron Anthony. He’s a good lad and a good professional. Yet a decision has been made.

The gaffer has to stay within his budget and from experience I know he deals with players in the right manner.

I’m a firm believer in man management and finances are what you make of them.

Mansfield Town have treble our budget yet the same number of points as us.

The gaffer has found us three gems in bringing Bowman, Jackson and Watkins to the club. He has also played Hanford and Clucas a lot too. That’s five players under 22 and valuable assets to the club. The building blocks are there.

There will be no excuses from the management and players who firmly believe we will get better and better.

I’m already telling my new little nephew about my war wounds at Edgar Street (not that he’s listening to me).

Sam Clucas owed me one from me chopping him down in training the other day. He accidently booted me in the face, quarter of an inch above my last scar.

There’s no way I’m walking around all season looking like the ‘Elephant man’ without some success to show for it! A clean sheet would be a start!

This week has seen the worst trainer get given a gift for his efforts.

I had seen the perfect shirt on my way to training in an army shop! Thursday seen the players split into two teams and the winning team got to choose the worst opposition player.

If you’re a loud character you’re often a number one target, with the quiet ones often over looked.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how well you do in training, you can get stitched up for fun.

The first official presentation was awarded to Harry Pell. Surprise surprise! In his defence he wasn’t the worst player.

Yet I have to say the Army jacket I supplied fitted him a treat and it’s probably the best jacket in his wardrobe now.

He will have to wear it every day into training until the next teams event. Its yet to be decided whether it will be washed yet during the season!

I just hope Harry gives it us back, he loves it that much!
