LEE Burge is a Hereford United fan - but he won’t be cheering for them on Saturday.

The 20-year-old will be playing in goal for Nuneaton against United at Edgar Street in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

It is a big week for Lee - as he was also due to take his driving test yesterday (Wednesday).

“I have never played at Edgar Street so I am looking forward to it,” said goalkeeper Lee, who is on loan at Nuneaton from Coventry City.

“It’s going to be a bit strange because I am more used to standing in the Meadow End.”

The ex-Aylestone School pupil played junior football with Pegasus Juniors and was then spotted by the Coventry scouts while playing locally.

He said: “I’ve always supported Hereford United and Coventry.

“My friend, Jack Lynch, moved from Coventry to Hereford and we used to go up to see Coventry’s games.”

Lee’s dad, Darren, lives in Whitecross and his mum, Claire, in Tupsley.

“My mum and dad will be coming to the game and so too will be a lot of my mates,” said Lee, who has played for both Coventry City’s under-18 and under-21 side.

“They’ve all been asking me where they should go in the ground.”

Lee plans to travel down with the Nuneaton team to ‘make it feel like an away game’.

But Lee added: “I will be staying in Hereford after the match and going out with friends.”
