FORMER Hereford United youth player Joe Tumelty has joined Hereford FC from Southern Football League Premier Division side Frome Town.

Tumelty has made 19 appearances for Frome this season, but was keen to return to Edgar Street having spent time in the Hereford United youth set up in 2012/13.

“I spoke to Beads [manager Pete Beadle] in pre-season, but felt that traveling from Bath might have been too much," Tumelty told the official Hereford FC website.

"But I’ve seen what it’s like this season, I’ve seen the crowds that are coming and I want to be a part of it, I don’t think I could have turned the chance down.

“I came to the Long Eaton game, saw how Beads wants to play, saw the fans here, and knew I wanted to be here."

Tumelty arrived at Edgar Street as part of John Layton’s youth set up, but was also briefly  part of the youth team managed by Beadle.

“I enjoyed my time here before, I wouldn’t have said I was at my best back then, but I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to getting back out on the pitch," added Tumulty.

Beadle said he was delighted Tumelty has joined Hereford.

"We’re really pleased to welcome Joe into the squad, he’s a player who can play anywhere across midfield, whether that’s in the centre or out wide," said Beadle.

"He also knows where the goal is.

"He’s played at a decent level and he’s certainly someone who will add something to the squad.”

Frome are fourth from bottom in the Southern Premier League.

“It’s been a long season for me so far, I’ve not really been enjoying it, but I’m really looking forward to coming back to Edgar Street and playing some football," added Tumelty.

Tumlety will be eligible for tomorrow’s FA Vase game against Rocester having previously played in the FA Trophy, rather than the previous round of the Vase.
