HEREFORD FC have reminded supporters to stay off the pitch when celebrating goals - with one supporter already banned from Edgar Street.

A minority of supporters have been seen encroaching on the playing surface at various grounds this season, with a corner flag removed from Stourport Swifts' ground.

A fan also ran onto the pitch at the end of Hereford's home game against Coleshill Town last month.

"We have recently had to enforce our first banning order at Edgar Street following an incident of a fan encroaching onto the pitch," said Hereford FC chairman Jon Hale.

"It is not a decision we take lightly, but we are committed to making sure that we, as a set of fans, become known for our big following, our fantastic vocal support, and most importantly, our good behaviour.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind all supporters that it is not acceptable for anyone to pass the barriers that surround the pitch, even if it is through celebration.

“If this sort of behaviour continues then we could see the League, or the FA begin to take action against us, which could result in a heavy fine and/or a points deduction.

"Unfortunately we do have an issue with supporters encroaching onto the field of play, especially whilst celebrating goals. Admittedly so far these encroachments have mostly been in good spirits, but it is still not acceptable to cross the perimeter barriers at any point.”

Hereford travel to Walsall Wood this evening looking to gain their sixth consecutive league win.
