We are eight games in to what has already been a remarkable first season for Hereford FC.

Plenty of goals, new grounds visited, exciting signings and unbelievable attendances at Edgar Street.

The city, indeed the county, has come alive again on match day as people make their way to the ground via pubs, cafes, shops and even hotels.

Some making short journeys, some travelling the length and breadth of the UK to watch Hereford FC.

Others making trips on and over the sea to watch their beloved Bulls again.

I say ‘first season’.

We have tried to bring forward as much flavour as possible from Hereford United, not least by incorporating the words ‘Forever United’ into our club badge as voted for by supporters. Whilst the company had to re-form because of the sad end in December, we are United again at Edgar Street, in black and white and singing the same old songs.

We are delighted to hear of the increased trade around the city on match day.

There is a vibrancy in the streets when Hereford FC are playing at home, with more replica shirts on show than I can ever remember in my 35 years of coming to Edgar Street.

You speak to the shop owners, the landlords and the café staff and you get a sense of how much they missed the football club.

Not only is that trade back, but it has increased for them meaning greater sales and a higher proportion of repeat business which is critical in any line of work.

The days of the whole family coming to watch a game at Edgar Street have returned, and that gives us a great deal of satisfaction.

We, as a club, want to encourage the next generation to support Hereford FC.

I was ‘caught’ young when at the age of six I was taken to my first game, a Division Four encounter with Stockport County.

And, no, it didn’t put me off.

We won the game, and I was hooked.

From that day forward I wanted the shirt, the shorts, the wristbands (yes they were ‘in’), the scarf and the hat.

And I wanted to be at every game. OK, I fell short on that wish until I was older.

The hope is that the younger generation can be proud to go in to school, college and work and wax lyrical about their local club, Hereford FC with a puffed out chest and a passion in their voice.

I did and I hope plenty will do so now.

This club has a wonderful supporter base and I think we all understand how important Hereford FC is to the county, and equally how important the younger generation is to Hereford FC. Thank you for your support, together we all made it happen.

Now lets make it great.
