HEREFORD Football Club manager Peter Beadle has confirmed that the team could train outside of the city.

The club are considering using facilities at either the University of Worcester or Hartpury College near Gloucester.

Beadle said that the option would make sense to reduce travelling costs for any player who has to come to Hereford.

"We may not train in Hereford, but somewhere in the middle," said Beadle.

"Worcester University and Hartpury are excellent facilities and are not too far from Hereford, Gloucester or Cheltenham.

"It is a good budget, but not a great budget, and it is something we have talked about.

"We want to play on the best surface and there is a lot going on on the pitch at Edgar Street.

"That is why we are looking at Hartpury or Worcester University where hopefully there will be a good surface."

Beadle said that training will start on June 30 – just one week before Hereford's first pre-season friendly at Malvern Town.

"We have got to make that we have a few days together because the games will come thick and fast," said Beadle.

"We need to get a few sessions in."

UPDATE: Peter Beadle told supporters at last night's fans' forum that the first couple of training sessions will be in Hereford before the club use Hartpury College.

Former Hereford United goalkeeper Rhys Evans will be coming on board to offer sessions one day a week.

Beadle said he was impressed with Evans when he stepped into a coaching capacity last year.

"He currently lives in Tewkesbury, so not far from Hereford," said Beadle.

"I think he misses the football and I thick he has got something to offer."

Beadle added that he has already spoken to a number of potential players and is hopeful that one or two will agree terms by the end of the week.

Westfields full-back Joel Edwards has confirmed to the Hereford Times that he is due to speak to Beadle and his manager Sean Edwards to discuss his options.

Beadle said that, although he appreciated there are talented players in the city, he has to ensure they are ready to shoulder the expectation that will be placed on them.

"We have proved there are fantastic players in Hereford from what we did last year and Rob Purdie has carried that on," said Beadle.

"There are some terrific players in Hereford, but we've got to make sure they are ready.

"There is going to be a huge expectation and we've got to make sure they are ready for it.

"There are a mixture dotted around and I'm trying to make the most of the budget.

"I need to make sure that I find someone that give us the best approach and fulfils our wishes.

"There are a lot of players I have spoken to.

"One or two didn't want to come because of the league we are in, but a few were very positive.

"They are considering their options and it is all very positive.

"It is not a normal end of season.

"Normally, you can change may be half a dozen of players.

"But I am talking to an awful lot of players and we are negotiating with their clubs.

"Hopefully one or two will definitely say yes by the end of the week, but we are still in the process of negotiating with them."

Beadle added that the players he has spoken to vary in experience, with some having played at a higher level than the Midland League.

"There are a mix of different levels, some have played in the same league and some a league above," he said.

"Some are young, some more experienced, but I want to make sure that the type of characters are right and they have the right mentality."
