HEREFORD Football Club has just announced it will be playing in the Midland Football League next season.

The newly-formed club, which is managed by Peter Beadle, will face a local derby with Westfields who ply their trade in the same division.

The campaign will be the club's first having been formed earlier this year following the demise of Hereford United before Christmas.

Hereford chairman Jon Hale said the games against Westfields will create a lot of interest in the city.

"Both games will be fantastic," he said.

"We are delighted to be in the national league system."

Westfields chief-executive Andy Morris said his first job tomorrow would be to request that Westfields play home games when Hereford are away.

He is also hopeful that the game at allpay.park will be on August Bank Holiday Monday, with the return fixture at Edgar Street on Boxing Day,

"It is fantastic for the city and will create a lot of interest," said Mr Morris.

"It is right for Westfields, right for Hereford and right for the FA.

"My first job tomorrow morning will be to write to the Midland Football League to alter the fixtures for when Hereford are home.

"I will also talk to Martin Watson (Hereford FC secretary) to see if we they can come to us on August Bank Holdiay and we go to them on Boxing Day."

Mr Morris added that a league meeting will take place on Monday in Solihull when all the clubs will be informed about Hereford's allocation.

Next season's fixtures will not be announced until around mid-July, he believes.
