Ledbury beat Claverdon to stand on brink of Midlands Four West South promotion

ONE win from their final two matches will clinch Ledbury’s promotion from Midlands Three West South after an heroic performance by their below-strength side earned a vital win in Warwickshire.
Scrum-half Nick Panniers launched three phases of play before no 8 Tom Dines crashed over after just two minutes. Ben Smith converted.
Claverdon hit back with a penalty after 14 minutes but it was Ledbury’s inspirational skipper Jock Welch touched down after a charging run seven minutes later.
Smith’s conversion extended the lead to 14-3 at half-time.
Claverdon scored an unconverted try through their forwards after 45 minutes but Smith added two penalties before Claverdon hit back with a converted try with just one minute remainin g.
