Defeat at Cainscross damages Greyhound's hopes of Gloucester 3 promotion

Cainscross 30 pts Greyhound 27.

A DRAMATIC late score gave the points to the home side and may have cost Greyhound promotion from Gloucester 3.

The Stroud-based hosts had 15 points on the board after just 11 minutes but the city club hit back when Dave Bromage sent Jamie Gibbons over in the corner and Mikey Weaver weaved his way through for a second score.

Cainscross struck again, however, when a converted try gave them a 22-10 half-time advantage.

Within two minutes of the start of the second period, Elliot Phillips collected his own chip forward for a try which Bromage converted.

A Bromage drop-goal was cancelled out by a home penalty before a second try for Phillips, converted by Bromage, gave the Hounds a two-point advantage.

Three minutes from time, however, Greyhound were controversially penalised and Cainscross were able to score the points to win the game.
