Luctonians boost National 2 North play-off hopes with Huddersfield win

Huddersfield 9 pts Luctonians 30.

A MAN-of-the-match display by skipper Paul Hulland led Luctonians to their first ever victory over Huddersfield.

Luctonians were on the board within two minutes of the start as winger Jimmy Norris raced 40 metres to score.

John Morris kicked the conversion before extending the lead with a penalty.

Chris Johnson was then successful with a Huddersfield kick before Morris re-establised the 10-point margin with another penalty.

Two Johnson penalties cut the deficit at the interval but Luctonians powered on after the break with scrum-half Brett Prior powering over for an unconverted try.

The visitors kept Huddersfield pegged back in their own 22 for long periods and a quickly-taken tap-penalty allowed Prior to race over for his second try.

With seven minutes left, Hulland rounded off an outstanding afternoon by claiming the bonus-point try.

Morris completed the scoring by kicking the conversion.
