Luctonians 35 points Nuneaton 3.
LUCTONIANS are back up to fourth in National Two North after their efforts in covering their Mortimer Park pitch with a fleece were rewarded with a win in the only game in the league to be played on the day due to the bad weather.
The match brought a man-of-the-match display from debutant flanker Barney Woods, who marked his first appearance for the north Herefordshire side with a try near the posts after just three minutes. John Morris added the simple conversion.
The Nuns clawed back three points with a penalty converted by scrum-half Huw Thomas.
Late in the first period, Luctonians gained full control with two tries.
Both came from flowing three-quarter play, the first when winger Morris came into the line for a fine individual try and then another when debutant winger Alex Rumsey sprinted clear to score.
Morris converted both with fine kicks from near the touchline.
A bonus point try arrived soon after the break when, following a line-out maul near the line, lock Alex Davidson forced his way over in the corner, Morris adding the extra points.
Luctonians stretched their lead still further when number eight Paul Hulland breached the defensive line to score a trademark try near the posts.
Brett Prior who had earlier replaced Morris slotted the easy conversion.
