AFTER last weekend’s dramatic late National 2 North victory away at Harrogate, Luctonians entertain Hull in a crucial encounter at Mortimer Park tomorrow (Saturday).
The Herefordshire side will be looking to keep up their promotion charge but are without forwards Alex Davidson and Nathan Roy-Smith and are awaiting news on the fitness of Charlie Meredith.
“We signed Louis Silver on loan last week and that has strengthened the squad but we are trying to keep the team balanced,” said first-team manager David James.
Tenth-placed Hull went down to leaders Loughborough last week but James knows that league position means nothing at this stage of the season.
“Anybody can beat anybody in this league,” he said. “Loughborough were in the same position last year and faltered when the ground got heavy.”
“It is in our own hands whether or not we make it to the play-offs. The teams above us all have to play each other and we have two vital away games after we play Hull.
“If we show the same spirit that got us the result last Saturday, we can hopefully get past Hull and get some momentum going.”
Hereford Rugby Club entertain Hinckley in National Three Midlands and will be hoping for an upturn in form after they slid closer to trouble with defeat at fellow-strugglers Broadstreet last weekend.
Ledbury have the chance to take top spot in Midlands Four (West) if they can beat leaders Old Wheatleyans at home.
The Herefordshire side defeated their opponents back in October and will be looking for a similar result this weekend to take them to top spot for only the second time this season.
